About Amanda L Horton

“The decision to become a maternal fetal medicine specialist was a very easy one for me; there is simply no other field of medicine so rewarding, inspiring, intellectually stimulating, and emotionally challenging.”

“Both of my pregnancies were high risk- although they didn't start out that way. As I reflect on those times, I know now that they have shaped the physician I am today. I, too, have sat (as a patient) in the same consultation and ultrasound rooms where my patients are now seated. Like many women and their families, I have been on the receiving end of unanticipated news about a pregnancy complication. In between blood thinner injections, bed-rest, a preterm delivery, and a baby in the NICU, I learned a great deal about what is important from both a physician perspective and in my experience as a high risk pregnant woman: anticipatory guidance and direct honest answers from a person who truly cares. To me, that makes all the difference in the world. Outside of work I enjoy an active lifestyle with my husband and two young children.”
